Daniel and Henrik Sedin had two of Vancouver's four first-period goals as the Canucks cruised past the visiting Nashville Predators 5-1 on Thursday night.
Coming off their worst period of the season - a four-goal implosion in a 4-0 loss to the New York Rangers two nights earlier - the Canucks put together their best 20 minutes of the campaign, building a 4-1 advantage that chased Nashville starting goalie Pekka Rinne from the net.
After Daniel Sedin put the Canucks in front early with a bank shot off Rinne, the Predators used a fortuitous bounce to even things up at 4:01.
A Colin Wilson shoot-in took a strange carom off the end boards and bounced past Vancouver netminder Roberto Luongo on the way back into play. Matt Halischuk bounded toward the crease unchecked and tapped the puck into an empty net.
Vancouver responded on the power play less than two minutes later. Henrik Sedin's shot from just inside the right point glanced off the stick of Nashville defenseman Kevin Klein and over Rinne's shoulder.
Dale Weise's first goal of the season extended the advantage at 12:02, and Chris Higgins made it 4-1 by converting on a 2-on-1 just 1:26 later.
Ryan Kesler rounded out the scoring on a power play six minutes into the third period, his first goal in two games since returning from offseason hip surgery.
