Maple Leafs 5, Canadiens 4 (OT)
Mikhail Grabovski scored 1:23 into overtime as the Toronto Maple Leafs overcame the loss of goaltender James Reimer to earn a wild 5-4 victory over the host Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.
Grabovski took a pass from John-Michael Liles behind the Montreal red line and slickly went from backhand to forehand in one motion before wristing a shot past the blocker of Canadiens netminder Carey Price.
Toronto prevailed despite losing Reimer, who took a shot to the head from Montreal's Brian Gionta early in the first period. He remained in the game until the second period, when he was removed as a precautionary measure.
With the score tied 3-3 and Montreal coming off a pivotal penalty kill, the Canadiens struck at 9:28 of the third period. Josh Gorges gathered up a puck off the side boards and wristed a shot that beat Jonas Gustavsson underneath his left arm.
Toronto evened the see-saw matchup with 6:53 left on a scramble in front of the Montreal goal. Nikolai Kulemin and Grabovski converged on the net, and Grabovski slapped the puck into the open net.
Travis Moen, Andrei Kostitsyn and Michael Cammalleri, in his 500th career NHL game, had the other goals for the Canadiens.
Phil Kessel scored his eighth goal of the season while David Steckel and Dion Phaneuf also had goals for the Maple Leafs.
