Flames 4, Avalanche 2
Rene Bourque scored twice, including the game winner midway through the second period as the Calgary Flames ended Colorado's franchise-record road winning streak with a 4-2 win over the Avalanche on Wednesday.
Colorado fell for the first time in seven games away from Denver this season.
With the score tied 1-1 following a first period dominated by Calgary, Lee Stempniak scored his first goal as a Flame on a rebound early in the
second period. Bourque extended the lead at 9:27 by batting a loose put out of the air and past Colorado netminder Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
Colorado's Ryan Wilson trimmed the deficit with 4:31 remaining, but
Bourque quashed all hopes of an Avalanche comeback with an empty-netter
in the final minute.
Kyle Quincey opened the scoring on a Colorado power play at 10:50 of the first period, banging home a Paul Stastny rebound past Calgary netminder Miikka Kiprusoff.
Roman Horak drew the Flames even three minutes later with his first career NHL goal, capping a 20-minute spree that saw Calgary outshoot the visitors 21-5.
