Panthers 3, Sabres 2
Jason Garrison scored on the power play with 1:43
left to lift the Florida Panthers to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over
the host Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
Tomas Fleischmann scored the tying goal just over two minutes earlier
and Marcel Goc added a tally for the Panthers. Jose Theodore returned
the Florida lineup after missing two games with a lower-body injury and
made 24 saves.
Garrison came off the bench just as it went from 4-on-4 to a Panthers
power play. The defenseman blasted a shot from just in front of the
blue line and clipped it off the post past Ryan Miller for his fourth
goal.
Fleischmann‘s third goal came on a strange play. Miller sprawled to
the ice to attempt a save on Scottie Upshall, who never actually got the
shot off as the puck dribbled to the boards. Miller was still down when
Fleischmann found the puck and wristed it into the open net from the
left doorstep.
Brad Boyes had helped give the Sabres the lead just over three
minutes earlier. Boyes took a dropoff from Christian Ehrhoff while
falling to the ice and sent a cross-ice pass from his knees to Jason
Pominville, who blasted it past Theodore from the left face-off circle
for the power-play tally.
Buffalo has dropped three of four.
