Stars 7, Avalanche 6
Loui Eriksson scored his second goal of the game at 3:55 of overtime, overshadowing Matt Duchene's first career hat trick and lifting the Dallas Stars to a 7-6 home triumph over the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.
Eriksson skated out from behind the net and attempted a pass to Jamie Benn from the right faceoff circle. However, the puck hit Colorado defenseman Erik Johnson in the crease and made its way across the goal line, giving Dallas its eighth win in 10 games.
Benn collected a goal and three assists and defenseman Stephane Robidas set up three tallies for the Stars, who improved to 6-1-0 at home.
Duchene gave Colorado a 6-5 lead with a highlight-reel, power-play goal 8 1/2 minutes into the third period. After receiving the puck in his own zone, Duchene skated up the ice and turned Robidas inside out before beating Kari Lehtonen with a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle for his third goal of the night.
Benn forged the fourth tie of the game with 4 1/2 minutes remaining as he tipped Robidas' one-timer from the right point past Semyon Varlamov.
Duchene added one assist and Ryan Wilson notched three for Colorado, which fell to 6-1-1 on the road this season. The Avalanche have won just three of their last 11 visits to Dallas.
