Flames 2, Avalanche 1

Curtis Glencross snapped a tie with a power-play goal early in the second period and the Calgary Flames held on for a 2-1 road victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.

Mark Giordano also scored and Miikka Kiprusoff extended his personal winning streak against Colorado to eight games with 32 saves for the Flames, who have won seven straight overall vs. the Avalanche and six in a row at the Pepsi Center.

Glencross netted his fourth goal of the season at 5:54 of the middle session, redirecting a pass from the top of the slot by Alex Tanguay past Semyon Varlamov.

Colorado grabbed a 1-0 lead just 34 seconds into the contest when Paul Stastny backhanded a rebound past Kiprusoff for his fourth tally. Giordano evened things for Calgary at 5:19 with a shot from the left wing boards that glanced off Avalanche defenseman Ryan Wilson.

Varlamov stopped 21 shots for Colorado, which has lost five of six and fell to 1-5-0 at home this season.
