Canadiens 3, Penguins 2 (SO)

Tomas Plekanec scored in the eighth round of the shootout as the Montreal Canadiens avoided a four-game season sweep at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins with a 3-2 home victory on Tuesday.

Rookie Louis LeBlanc netted his third goal of the season and Lars Eller also tallied for Montreal, which has won two in a row after a three-game slide.

All-Star Carey Price, who stopped 32 shots in regulation and overtime, denied 6 of 8 shootout attempts - including Jason Williams in the final round.

James Neal netted his 28th goal of the season and Pascal Dupuis added a shorthanded tally for Pittsburgh, which has lost three of its last four after winning eight in a row.

Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 28 shots, but the Quebec native fell to 6-3-2 in his career against the Canadiens.

With Montreal nursing a 2-1 lead, Neal leveled the contest with 7:32 remaining in the third period. All-Star Evgeni Malkin beat former Penguin defenseman Hal Gill to the puck before feeding Neal, who wristed a shot from the left faceoff circle past Price.
