Jets 5, Oilers 4

Michael Frolik scored his second goal of the night with 5:02 remaining in the third period to snap a tie and lift visiting Winnipeg to victory in its first game in the Western Conference.

Making his NHL debut, defenseman Jacob Trouba intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and beat Devan Dubnyk from the top of the right faceoff circle at 11:06 of the third to knot the contest. Frolik, who began Winnipeg's comeback from a 4-2 deficit late in the middle session, received a nifty backhand pass from Eric Tangradi and shoveled the puck into the net from the low slot for the game-winner.

Mark Scheifele and Bryan Little also scored while defenseman Dustin Byfuglien registered three assists for the Jets, who shifted to the West after spending their first two seasons since moving from Atlanta in the Eastern Conference. Blue-liner Tobias Enstrom set up a pair of goals and Ondrej Pavelec made 34 saves.

Ales Hemsky recorded a goal and an assist, Luke Gazdic scored in his first NHL game and Boyd Gordon and Jesse Joensuu also tallied for Edmonton, which was without injured stars Sam Gagner (jaw) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (shoulder) in Dallas Eakins' coaching debut. Dubnyk turned aside 23 shots.

Gazdic opened the scoring at 2:21 of the first period, but Scheifele answered on the power play 64 seconds later and Little beat Dubnyk to the stick side from the top of the right circle with 3:48 left to put the Jets ahead. Gordon tied it with a man-advantage goal late in the session before Hemsky and Joensuu scored 4:15 apart early in the second to give the Oilers a 4-2 lead.
