Blues 6, Stars 1
T.J. Oshie had a goal and an assist and captain David Backes continued his hot streak by scoring as host St. Louis extended the best start in franchise history.
Vladimir Sobotka and Vladimir Tarasenko scored first-period goals and Derek Roy and Chris Stewart connected in the third period as the Blues broke it open to improve to 16-3-3. Brian Elliott made 34 saves for St. Louis, which is 6-0-1 in its last seven home games.
Defenseman Brenden Dillon had the lone goal for Dallas, which saw its six-game road winning streak snapped. Kari Lehtonen was chased after allowing five goals on 18 shots as the Stars lost for the sixth time in the last seven meetings with the Blues.
Dillon's soft wrister from the left point midway through the opening period deadlocked it at 1-1, but Tarasenko answered only nine seconds later by skating down the right side and fending off a defender before beating Lehtonen.
Backes notched the only goal of the second period, collecting an errant puck off the side boards and leading a two-on-one before beating Lehtonen stick side for his fourth tally in the last six games. The Blues blew it open in the third when Roy redirected a bullet from Alexander Steen on the power play 50 seconds in before Stewart ended Lehtonen's night with his fourth goal just under five minutes later.
