Blackhawks 3, Blues 2
ST. LOUIS -- Andrew Shaw scored a power-play goal on his own rebound with 4:19 to play to break a tie and lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 3-2 victory Friday over the St. Louis Blues to even their opening-round playoff series at 1-1.
The goal came with seven seconds left in a penalty to Vladimir Tarasenko, who was called for slashing Shaw. It was allowed to stand after a video review.
Chicago's Artemi Panarin added an empty-net goal with 1:26 to play. St. Louis' Kevin Shattenkirk scored with two seconds left.
The Blues appeared to have taken a 2-1 lead with 7:46 left in regulation on the second goal of the game from Tarasenko, but the Blackhawks challenged the goal and after a video review it was ruled that Jori Lehtera had been offside on the play.
The series moves to Chicago for the next two contests, with Game 3 set for Sunday afternoon.
After playing more than 69 scoreless minutes in Game 1 before David Backes' overtime goal, the Blues and Blackhawks went more than 35 minutes without a goal Friday before Tarasenko beat Corey Crawford at 15:20 of the second period.
Lehtera forced a turnover by the Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival along the boards and got the puck to Jaden Schwartz, who fed it on to Tarasenko. He was open in front of the net and didn't miss.
It was Tarasenko's 11th career playoff goal in 15 games. Tarasenko scored five goals in the regular season in five games against Chicago, the most by any player against the Blackhawks this year.
The lead was short-lived, however. With five seconds to go in the second period, the Blackhawks won a faceoff to Brian Elliott's left and Duncan Keith fired a shot past a screened Elliott to tie the game.
After stopping all 35 Chicago shots in Game 1, Elliott denied the first 18 Blackhawks shots before Keith's goal -- the 16th playoff tally of his career. It was the 17th shot of the period for the Blackhawks, who had only two shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes.
