Oilers 5, Avalanche 1
Rookie Taylor Hall recorded his 21st goal of the season and added two assists and Devan Dubnyk made 38 saves to pace the visiting Edmonton Oilers to their fourth win in five games with a 5-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night.
Rookie Jordan Eberle added a goal and an assist and Dustin Penner, Sam Gagner and defenseman Kurtis Foster also scored for the Oilers, who peppered Colorado goaltender Brian Elliott in his first start with his new club.
Penner opened the scoring with a power-play goal with 5:43 remaining first period. Gagner buried his 13th of the season at 7:08 of the second session and Hall made it 3-0 with another power-play goal at 15:49.
Milan Hejduk cut the deficit while Colorado had the man advantage less than two minutes later, but Eberle and Foster scored in the third to put the game away.
Elliott gave up a couple of soft goals while making 26 saves in the loss.
