Blackhawks 4, Coyotes 3 (SO)

Captain Jonathan Toews collected both a pair of first-period goals and the lone tally in the shootout and Corey Crawford denied all three attempts as the Chicago Blackhawks recorded a 4-3 home triumph over the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday.

Marian Hossa scored for the third straight contest and Patrick Kane notched a pair of assists as Chicago (33-23-6) secured its fourth straight win and fifth in six outings.

Defenseman Brent Seabrook was also credited with an assist on Toews' second goal just hours after he signed his five-year, $29 million contract extension.

After Toews scored in the first round of the shootout, Crawford denied Scottie Upshall, Radim Vrbata and Kyle Turris to improve to 6-1-1 in his last eight games.

All-Star defenseman Keith Yandle collected a goal and an assist and fellow blue-liner Adrian Aucoin and Martin Hanzal also tallied for Phoenix (33-21-10), which has dropped three in a row after riding a season-high eight-game winning streak. The Coyotes are now two points shy of the Pacific Division-leading San Jose Sharks (36-21-6).

Ray Whitney and Mikkel Boedker notched a pair of assists apiece and Ilya Bryzgalov finished with 38 saves to fall to 27-15-7 on the season.
