Oilers 3, Predators 1
Taylor Hall, Ryan Smyth and Ryan Jones scored third-period goals as the Edmonton Oilers rallied for a 3-1 home victory over the Nashville Predators on Monday.
Shawn Horcoff collected three assists, Smyth also set up a goal and Nikolai Khabibulin made 11 saves for Edmonton, which posted only its third win in 11 home meetings with Nashville.
Trailing 1-0, the Oilers pulled even 5 1/2 minutes into the third as Hall took a cross-slot feed from rookie Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and fired the puck past Pekka Rinne during a power play. Just 2:02 later, Smyth received a perfect pass from Horcoff after sneaking behind two defenders and slipped a backhander into a vacant net for a 2-1 edge.
Jones sealed the win in the final minute with an empty-netter.
After a scoreless first period, Nashville took the lead early in the second when Sergei Kostitsyn grabbed a loose puck in his own zone, skated down the right wing and beat Nikolai Khabibulin from the right faceoff circle with a wrist shot at 1:58.
Rinne stopped 22 shots for the Predators, who blew a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 in a shootout to New Jersey at home on Saturday.
