Canadiens 4, Bruins 2
Brian Gionta and Lars Eller scored 76 seconds apart in the first period to spark the Montreal Canadiens to their third straight victory, a 4-2 win over the visiting Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
David Desharnais scored a power play goal and Carey Price turned aside 26 shots as the Canadiens completed a home-and-home sweep of Boston and sent the reigning Stanley Cup champions to their third straight loss.
Tomas Plekanec added an empty-net goal and Michael Cammalleri had a pair of assists as Montreal improved to 3-0 since the firing of assistant coach Perry Pearn. The Canadiens also won their second straight home game after opening the season with five straight losses at the Bell Centre.
Gionta opened the scoring at 15:26 of the first by deflecting a slap shot by Plekanec past Tuukka Rask on the power play. It marked the ninth time in 10 games that the Bruins have trailed this season.
Eller doubled the lead 1 minute, 16 seconds later with a perfectly placed shot to the top right corner.
Desharnais added a power-play tally at 12:24 of the second before Boston answered four minutes later when Milan Lucic converted a giveaway by Eller, blistering a slap shot by Price.
Tyler Seguin got Boston within 3-2 with 55 seconds to play before Plekanec sealed it.
