Sharks 3, Flames 2

Patrick Marleau snapped a tie midway through the third period and visiting San Jose withstood a furious charge in the final minutes to post its fourth straight victory.

Logan Couture and defenseman Justin Braun each recorded a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who have notched 18 tallies during their winning streak. Tommy Wingels recorded a pair of assists and Antti Niemi turned aside 33 shots.

Captain Mark Giordano and rookie Johnny Gaudreau scored for the Flames, who had their four-game winning streak snapped. Karri Ramo made 27 saves as Calgary concluded a 2-1-0 homestand.

Calgary opened the scoring with 2:28 remaining in the first period on Giordano's one-timer from the left point. The Sharks drew even 33 seconds into the middle session as Braun gathered a loose puck at the bottom of the right faceoff circle and backhanded it past Ramo, and Couture put San Jose ahead with a backhander from the left circle 2:01 later after Flames defenseman Raphael Diaz failed on a clearing attempt.

Gaudreau forged a 2-2 tie with 2:11 left in the period, grabbing the rebound of his redirection from the doorstep and sliding it around Niemi. The Sharks broke the deadlock at 9:18 of the third, when Couture's pass attempt from behind the net went off a defender's stick and over the cage to Marleau, who knocked the puck down with his body and tapped it in before it hit the ice.
