Canucks 3, Wild 2 (OT)

Sami Salo's goal 4:39 into overtime propelled the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 win over the visiting Minnesota Wild on Saturday.

With the Canucks on a power play, Salo ripped a shot from the point that eluded Minnesota netminder Niklas Backstrom's glove. It was his 19th game-winning goal in a Vancouver uniform, equaling the franchise record for defenseman.

Vancouver has now beaten Minnesota eight straight times at Rogers Arena.

Devin Setoguchi opened the scoring 8:57 into the first period, finishing off a 2-on-1 with Dany Heatley by backhanding the puck past Vancouver netminder Cory Schneider.

A Vancouver power-play yielded the tying goal at 16:28 of the second period. Daniel Sedin rifled a puck from a bad angle that deflected off a Wild defender and past Backstrom.

Kyle Brodziak restored Minnesota's lead 1:43 later. Brodziak was left alone from point-blank range and one-timed a pass from Nick Johnson past Schneider.

Jannik Hansen drew the Canucks even 2:06 into the third period, redirecting a Manny Malhotra centering pass between Backstrom's pads for his first of the season.

After the game, the Canucks traded Marco Sturm and Mikael Samuelsson to Florida for David Booth, Steven Reinprecht and a 2013 third-round draft pick.
